![]() Bottom Fishing in Kona Hawaii is almost a guarantee catch. Our productive bottom fishing grounds are only a short distance from the harbor. Its great fun catching these fish. They put up such a hard fight. They range from 10 lbs to 200 lbs. Unless you catch a tiger shark which could way over 1,000 lbs.
When bottom fishing you are not going to catch the big game fish on the surface (marlin, mahi, ono, and tuna). You are going to catch bottom fish. We usually fish 420 feet deep. There are two ways we do this. Dropping live or dead bait to the bottom with a 12 oz. weight or by using deep sea jigs.
